Attention owners and managers of buildings less than 100,000-sq.ft., including retail stores, offices, hotels, schools, and healthcare clinics: There’s new technology to suit your integrated building management system needs.

As merely one example, Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., provides a new addition to its SmartStruxure suite with the launch of the SmartStruxure Lite solution, the first designed for owners and managers of smaller buildings. How is SmartStruxure Lite tailored to the needs of small-and-medium-sized buildings? It’s all in the core competencies: tools to save energy, optimize efficiency, and reduce costs.

For management of HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, energy, and more in one interface, the SmartStruxure Lite solution enables building managers to quickly improve resource use and occupant comfort, increase energy efficiency in both existing buildings and new construction, and, finally, drive value with cost-effective building management throughout the lifecycle of a facility. With programmable control and management using the StruxureWare Building Expert software, the solution provides a no-license-fee Web interface.

The benefits are clear: The solution lowers the TCO (total cost of ownership) for buildings with a smaller footprint and provides a quick return on investment. For smaller buildings, in particular, these are advantages, as building management systems are typically created for larger facilities and incorporate tools that are not applicable or cost-effective for small-and-medium-sized buildings.
