With expected growth in the construction industry in the next few years, there is a greater need for faster, more accurate data transfer to support today’s elevated project-management needs. How is your construction company preparing for this growth?

As an example of technology to support growth, Viewpoint Construction Software, www.viewpoint.com, Portland, Ore., recently introduced the latest release of Viewpoint For Estimating, which focuses on increased product integration with both Vista by Viewpoint and ProContractor by Viewpoint and features new import templates that provide the ability to quickly move estimating data into the Viewpoint database, saving time, reducing duplicate entry and improving accuracy.

Additionally, there are many other benefits, such as the ability to determine materials and labor needs for any job, streamlined purchases and materials management, and tools to analyze pricing on projects to determine and focus on the critical aspects of jobs.

With the acquisition earlier this year of Maxwell Systems and the Estimation products, Viewpoint is able to offer this opportunity to provide contemporary and mission-critical estimating software, according to Rob Humphreys, vice president of product management at Viewpoint. The advantage of Viewpoint, Humphreys added, is an understanding of the unique estimating needs electrical and specialty contractors have—whether its new construction, maintenance and repair work, or replacement and retrofitting.

This technology made its debut late last month, with features that make it possible for contractors to easily and efficiently review plans and specifications to properly estimate for costs.

As the construction market beings to pick up, having technology in place will ultimately boost productivity and project efficiencies.
