Naperville, Ill. – November 4, 2020 – Every great visionary finds inspiration in the ability to create opportunities by developing something out of a blank canvas. The future is all about reimaging and rebuilding new spaces and leveraging technology to make cities and communities better for its occupants.

Constructech is pleased to announce Lori Healey, President, Chicago Business Unit, Clayco, will take the stage at the National Constructech Technology Days Conference, on November 12 at MxD in Chicago.

Constructech editorial director and president of Specialty Publishing Media Peggy Smedley will sit down with Healey for a candid conversation to chat about the state of construction, women’s roles, diversity and inclusion, and where the future of construction is headed in general.

Make sure to watch this lively conversation between two outspoken industry construction leaders.

“I am very excited to be part of this conversation about the future of our industry and am pleased to be invited to speak,” says Healey. “The topic of diversity and inclusion is particularly important to me and I look forward to our discussion.”

Healey was most recently the CEO of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, owner of McCormick Place, Navy Pier, and the 1,258 room Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. Prior to joining MPEA, she served as the CEO of Tur Partners LLC, a firm founded by Chicago’s former Mayor Richard M. Daley, partnered with leaders and innovators to drive growth within global urban markets. Healey also served as a Principal in the Development Group for the John Buck Company, focused on growing the firm’s private real estate and infrastructure-related transactions. Healey coordinated the organizational and planning activities for the NATO Summit in Chicago in 2012, and in 2009, was appointed as president of Chicago 2016, where she was responsible for leading Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

Having held several senior leadership positions for the City of Chicago under the administration of Mayor Richard M. Daley, most recently acting as Mayor Daley’s Chief of Staff, she earlier served as Commissioner of the City’s Department of Planning and Development, overseeing significant investment into the City’s economic development programs and projects. Her previous experiences also included time as a principal at Perkins + Will, and as Deputy Director for Business Development of the (then) Illinois Department of Commerce & Community Affairs. Healey began her career as a policy aide to former Governor John Carlin of Kansas in 1983.

“Lori has built a strong career bringing together private and public leaders,” says Smedley. “Her wealth of experience will help those who attend Technology Days discover how to become a great visionary themselves and build opportunities and communities for years to come.”

This year, Technology Days 2020 is something old and new—but for the first time, we are creating a hybrid event for attendees. Some keynotes and other sessions will provide Q&A discussions and live presentations! This will allow more individuals to participate creating a global opportunity to hear from our first-class speakers (on your own time), research technology solutions, and access additional content on-the-go anytime.

The first day of sessions focuses on the global need for diversity, equality, and encouraging greater STEM in the building and manufacturing space. It will also explore the global trends ranging from prefabrication, new materials and processes, underlying design assumptions, BIM, intelligent infrastructure, urban mobility, and more.

Day two focuses on the advancement of technology that is inspiring an industry and the next generation of workers to leverage technology to achieve sustainability objectives. In many cases this means building a vision for those companies that believe in taking on a moonshot dream for achieving sustainability and climate goals through the use of traceability and tracking technology. To build tomorrow’s future we will continue to leverage the worker of the future, new AR/VR, drones, and other tools to reshape our urbanization, and so much more.
