Residential construction companies can now leverage more in-home technology, as home automation providers are once again delivering new solutions specifically to homebuilders. In fact, one company says the timing is right to bring systems together under one control system for builders.

Legrand,, Limoges, France, announced today that it has introduced Intuity, a new-home automation platform specifically targeting production homebuilders and installers.

In speaking with Constructech, Desiree Webster, marketing communication manager, Legrand, says it is targeting middle market production builders with the new solution and is bringing systems together under one roof and one control system. Additionally, she says the timing is right to release the solution, as the market is beginning to improve.

Looking at the specifics, the company says its intention is to provide homebuilders with a modular, easy-to-sell home ecosystem that would support the most requested home technologies. The platform integrates with Legrand’s own ecosystem including On-Q IP cameras, video door entry and intercom, lighting systems, and its On-Q multiroom digital audio system. However, it additionally offers integration with third-party components including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, digital door locks, and home security systems.

Like many connected systems available today, this platform also includes an app, which users can download from the Apple store. The interface is the same across laptops, desktops, the command center, and mobile devices, meaning homeowners have a consistent experience.

For homebuilders, Intuity includes modular components that are housed inside a structured wiring enclosure, and the platform is easy to install and scale, according to Legrand. Support for builders includes demonstration of products for installation in model homes, videos of the platform in use, sales training to help builders, brochures, consumer demo app, and more. The company says it is looking to partner with builders to help them access and implement a program.

While this is one example, home automation is becoming a necessity in new homes, as builders look for ways to differentiate in a rebounding market.
