The construction industry has been quick to respond to what PlanGrid provides, implementing the technology in large numbers.

In only three years, PlanGrid’s construction collaboration platform has stored more than 20 million blueprints managed in its cloud-based platform. PlanGrid is used by more than 10,000 customers, including construction firms like Clark Builders Group, Power Designs, and Structure Tone, as well as building owners like Nordstrom, Tishman Speyer, and Sutter Health, and is used to manage more than 200,000 construction projects worldwide.

One challenge in the construction industry today is blueprints are constantly changing—in some cases even hourly—making it difficult to stay up-to-date on revisions. In order to address this need in the construction industry, PlanGrid allows contractors to view, share, and annotate blueprints on an iPad. With this app, the master set is stored securely in the PlanGrid cloud, and annotations can be synced automatically from an iPad.

Back in 2012, shortly after the initial launch, the app was already in use by hundreds of builders including some of the biggest names in the business. Now that is one successful unveiling.
