Jobsite: The Next Generation

Imagine a jobsite where tools check themselves in and out; trucks send you notifications when a certain speed limit has been exceeded; safety harnesses accumulate detailed information for inspections; materials are tracked in a matter of seconds; cellphones become tools to manage driver safety; and employee badges track down which employees are clocked in.

A Year of Return

Give me the payback! My apologies for opening the year with such a brash statement, but I'm simply asking the question the entire industry has been thinking about with regards to BIM (building information modeling).

Digging Up the Data

Little did the late Steve Jobs realize the type of impact he would have on—of all things—the construction industry when he introduced the world to the iPad in 2010. Sure, mobility was already well entrenched in this industry at the time, and the idea of using a tablet on a job wasn’t groundbreaking by any means.
