The ability to locate materials faster, direct labor productivity, and eliminate the need for material reorders is possible with construction technology.

Atlas RFID Solutions,, Birmingham, Ala., says it has significantly expanded the functionality of its flagship product, Jovix, to address additional material control challenges on industrial construction projects. The new features support mobile inspections and preventative maintenance, managing and resolving overage, shortage, and damage issues, along with predicting future material availability issues via supply and demand forecasting.

In addition, the 2014.2 release of Jovix improves the ability to import drawing data from engineering tools as well as add and manage attachments within the application. Furthermore, the mobile tablet interface has been updated to provide a more consistent and user-friendly experience making it easier for Jovix to extend material control capabilities to the field and eliminate manual, paper-based processes from the jobsite.

“The ability to execute preventative maintenance activities on the tablet, for example, was added after a customer’s internal study determined that 50% of preventative maintenance time was being spent locating materials, which is something that Jovix Mobile has always done well,” says Josh Girvin, senior vice president of product management, Atlas RFID Solutions. “With the addition of this new functionality, Jovix is now able to provide continuous visibility and control throughout the entire material lifecycle from fabrication through installation.”

Jovix provides overall project efficiencies by allowing positive material control, which is made possible by delivering unprecedented access to actionable, up-to-date data about the availability, status, and location of materials in the global supply chain.
