New application integration from the technology advancement “pipeline” bodes well for homebuilders looking to save time in the estimating process by not having to redraw plans or manually create purchase orders to calculate costs.

Now, through a newly announced estimating capability, users of software from BuilderMT,, Denver, Colo., can by using the BIM Pipeline application from CG Visions,, Lafayette, Ind., to move design and option data from CAD (computer-aided design) and BIM (building information modeling) systems directly into BuilderMT Estimating.

This functionality, according to BuilderMT, a MiTek company, and provider of workflow management solutions for mid-market homebuilders, can even be applied to homeplans heavily customized in the options process. MiTek,, Chesterfield, Mo., is a diversified global supplier of software, engineered products, services, and equipment to the residential, commercial, and industrial, construction sectors.

CG Visions’ BIM Pipeline uses model dimensions to translate a homebuilder’s designs into the products the builder needs to build that home. According to the announcement, these products can then automatically appear in BuilderMT, where their data populates BuilderMT’s purchasing system, creating accurate purchase orders in the process.

BuilderMT purchase orders are tied to realtime pricing, which says BuilderMT, enables BIM Pipeline/BuilderMT users to accurately determine the costs of any home—even if they are building it for the first time. With CG Visions’ BIM Pipeline, homebuilders can work entirely in digital design environments, through design programs such as eTakeoff, PlanSwift, VisionREZ, Revit, AutoCAD, and Vertex.
