February 2014

With the New Year comes greater hope to build on new dreams and new aspirations. It gives us all a chance to be astounded by new possibilities that lie ahead.

To help keep up with the ever-changing world of technology, your No. 1 publication for technology continues to reinvent itself. Here comes some big news: Constructech has a new and improved digital edition that you can download. You are in store for a bevy of new interactive content than ever before. Whereas we have had a digital edition in the past, our new Mag+ version takes the idea of an interactive publication to the next level, complete with additional content, animations, video content, and so much more.

We like to say with the New Year comes greater hope to build on new dreams and new aspirations. It gives us all a chance to be astounded by new possibilities that lie ahead. That is why when I challenged Associate Senior Editor Laura Black to lead the charge to direct the production department to move our digital magazine to our new Mag+, I was pretty self-assured she could handle the project.

First, I knew she had Designer Angie Cooley at her side to create the masterpiece. I recognized how difficult it would be to take our traditional print publication and transition it from our original digital format (we had been on Zinio), and transform it into something you would fancy even more.

Rest assured I had all the confidence the entire editorial and design team were both more than capable to shore up a mighty impressive product, charging ahead with the marketing squad at their side. And in full disclosure, I must confess I was a bit of a cantankerous editorial director during the development process, nitpicking every little detail. But I hope that my painstaking criticism of every little element has helped to push this talented squad to produce a product that encourages you to read our magazine from cover to cover.

With this news, we encourage you to download the app and ensure you have your digital fix of Constructech each and every month.

Next, let’s talk about the content. This month Laura does a remarkable job with the Top Products, identifying how a confluence of factors is changing how residential construction firms use technology and, as such, how the technology providers are responding by offering updates to technology packages. Think mobile, BIM (building information modeling), the cloud, and more. Some pretty exciting stuff for homebuilders to consider.

Couple all this great work and it leads me to some really exciting news. I am pleased to announce that we have named Laura as the editor of Constructech. So you could say I have saved the best news for last. For the past six years Laura has mastered the construction industry and now it’s her turn to help direct the vision of Constructech. I am thrilled about what the future holds for the magazine and where it is headed.

Together our goal will be to lead you toward the power of data and how that information can empower your world in the months ahead. Happy Reading!
