When the process of managing RFIs (requests for information) becomes inefficient, it can slow down the construction project, resulting in a loss of time and money. Technology providers continue to come to market with new mobile solutions designed to address the process of managing RFIs.

For example, PlanGrid, www.plangrid.com San Francisco, Calif., a developer of software solutions for the construction industry, says it has created a free, all-in-one RFI solution.

Without the use of technology, the traditional, manual process of managing RFIs can be seen as inefficient and slow. However, PlanGrid says it has solved all five RFI steps of identifying the problem, collecting evidence, and posting the solution.

The new features use cloud technology to handle the processes of asking the team about a problem, sharing the RFI, and answering the RFI. With the cloud-based technology, the entire RFI process is in one location and can be completed without the use of one-premise out-of-date software. This results in more time to build and less costs for customers and project teams.

Some features of PlanGrid’s RFI solution include fully customizable RFI statuses, user-generated snapshots from blueprints that synchronize to the cloud, RFI PDF (portable document format) reports created and sent via email to project teams, tracking the status of RFIs via the RFI log, enabling communication regarding the RFI, and making all edits viewable in the RFI history.

Construction software can change how RFIs are managed, resulting in a more efficient and cost-saving solution.
