Increasingly today construction and engineering firms are requiring integrated software solutions throughout the construction workflow. What’s the common denominator of these solutions? They all aim to streamline processes, increase visibility into costs, and, ultimately, complete jobs quicker, on budget, and on-time.

To wit, Trimble, www.trimble.com, Sunnyvale, Calif., recently acquired privately-held Amtech Group, www.amtech.com, Ltd., based in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom from Primary Capital Ltd., and senior management.

Trimble’s focus is on the deployment of integrated solutions for the construction and engineering community, from initial engineering and bidding projects to construction and project completion. Starting with estimating and design and moving through project management and field solutions for installation, Amtech provides on-premise and SaaS (software-as-a-service) solutions, which include: LUCKINSlive.com: a powerful content and pricing service solution for contractors and engineers in the UK; Enterprise Estimating: a UK-specific estimating software that, when combined with LUCKINS pricing data, gives contractors the ability to have up-to-date pricing; ProDesign full electrical design and calculations to BS 7671; NES: a specification compiling software; and ArtrA: a unique 3D asset integrity management system.

The Trimble-Amtech collaboration results in a breakthrough set of dedicated MEP workflows and productivity solutions for MEP contractors and engineers. With the addition of Amtech, Trimble continues to reinforce its commitment to meet the unique needs of the European MEP market. This is balanced well with the fact that Amtech offers localized content and pricing information combined with construction software while providing users with intuitive work processes for optimal efficiency and productivity in the office. It’s the best of all worlds: Amtech combines office solutions with Trimble’s depth of worksite productivity solutions—including field layout, scanning, mobility, and more. The company says it is excited to provide an even greater integrated office workflow for the building contractor and engineer.

The Amtech business will ultimately be reported as part of the Engineering and Construction Segment.
