The Model of Drone Safety
As drones are making their way faster than ever in the construction industry, many are unfamiliar with how to operate them properly. To ensure the public is prepared to take to the skies, the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics), www.modelaircraft.org/, and DJI, www.dji.com, a manufacturer of unmanned aircraft systems, have launched a new educational program that will teach safe and responsible drone use.
The educational program will enable both companies to effectively reach out to adults and youth to become more familiar with DJI products both on and off the jobsite. The introduction of model aviation and recreation drone flying to youth and teens will give them further experience and possibly inspire them to pursue similar careers that involve aviation down the road.
All of this is done through an AMA membership that enlists participants in flight skill training and orientation management classes that will prepare them to be put to the test with simulated public safety missions. In addition, members will have better access to more affordable personal drones, and receive online pilot support to adapt to new models or features.
